There was little the proprietors of the Old Town theatre would not do to bolster their budget. As early as in the first decades of the 20th century, it was common knowledge that nothing attracts audiences as much as novelty and the sensational. For instance, in 1913 Kurier Lubelski reported the following:
The owner of the Panteon cinematograph, located in the former Makowski theatre in Jezuicka, has transformed it into a “Miniatures Theatre”, where, apart from there being cinematographic projections, a group of dramatic artists, with Mr Rdzawicz and Mrs Dunajewska stage short plays. At present, the one-act farce Little Spark and the comedy Teeth Extracted Painlessly are on the programme. The theatre’s artistic direction is in the hands of Mr Rdzawicz, a talented actor.
