Renowned film director Andrzej Wajda and scenographer Krystyna Zachwatowicz-Wajda visited Lublin on 15 September 2000 to take part in the Congress of Christian Culture. At the invitation of Waldemar Mirek, chair of the Galeria na Prowincji Foundation which owned the theatre at the time, they paid a visit to the building, partly burnt out and in a state of disrepair. Several photographs of the meeting exist. Andrzej Wajda presented a copy of his autobiography, Kino i reszta świata [Cinema and the rest of the world] to the Foundation’s chairman. The copy has the inscription which translates as follows:
To Mr Waldemar Mirek
with wishes of a successful reconstruction in Lublin

Andrzej Wajda’s talk at the congress was entitled: Between tradition and development: a question of cultural identity, progress in culture, and human development – an intriguing question in the context of The Old Theatre’s current activity and the present exhibition.
