1822–2022
Up until 1884, the street address of the theatre was that of the townhouse where its owners resided, which is 11 Rynek (the two buildings shared a courtyard), though it was also described as the theatre in Jezuicka Street (alternatively Pojezuicka or Dominikańska) or – from the names of the proprietors – the Drewnowski, Rodakiewicz, and finally the Makowski theatre. When summer theatres began to appear in Lublin, it claimed yet another nickname – the Winter Theatre. As film screenings entered the venue’s repertoire, its name also changed in a kaleidoscopic fashion, often for an aptly brief moment – from Théâtre Optique Parisien in 1907 to the Old Town Cinema in 1954. The last of these saw its street renamed Trybunalska, a name used between 1950 and 1990, when the street now named Dominikańska was known as Sebastiana Klonowica. The current street address of the Old Theatre is 18 Jezuicka Street.
